What can I buy at Jacobs Haberdashery?
We stock a wide selection of products for sewing, dressmaking, knitting, crochet and other creative projects. Our range includes fabrics, threads, Rit Dye, buttons, zips, ribbons, yarn, knitting and crochet accessories and patterns, dressmaking patterns, craft kits, DMC threads, quilting rulers, sewing machines and overlockers, the list goes on!
Our stock changes regularly, so please contact us if you are looking for a particular product.

Do you sell fabric by the metre?
We stock a variety of fabrics, including cotton prints, quilting cottons, plain cotton, denim, corduroy, canvas, soft furnishing fabrics, ticking and polycottons. Fabrics quantities and cutting increments vary per product. Our smallest cut is 25cm (50cm for polycottons). We also sell fat quarters of out cottons and quilting cottons. If you are unsure of the description or colour of the fabric please get in contact and we will do all we can to help. Occasionally the colour portrayed online is slightly different to the fabric.

Fabric Care
We advise that you pre-wash your fabrics prior to sewing with them as fabrics often shrink after
washing.
We advise washing your fabrics at 30 degrees or lower and not to tumble dry.​

Can I sell sewing supplies online?
Yes you can shop online for a selection of fabrics, haberdashery, craft supplies and sewing machines and overlockers. But do bear in mind we have much, much more stock in our shops!

Do you sell dye?
Yes, we have the full range of all-purpose Rit Dye in stock. Great for machine and dying in a container.

Which fabric is best for my sewing project?
The best fabric depends on what you want to make. Cotton is often a good option for beginners and everyday sewing, while denim and canvas can be useful for sturdier projects. Polycotton can be a practical option for many craft and clothing projects.
If you are unsure which fabric to choose, contact us with your description of your project and we will do our best to point you in the right direction.

Do you sell sewing machines for beginners?
We stock Pfaff, Singer and Husqvarna sewing machines and overlockers, including models suitable for different experience levels and sewig needs. Whether you are buying your first machine or upgtading your existing one, you can explore the available models on our website or contact us for assistance. When you buy a new machine with us we offer a free reun through on your chosen machine. We want you to feel confident when you get home to start your sewing journey.
We also sell secondhand machines in both our Hastings and Bexhill shops, which have all been fully serviced.

Do you sell sewing machine accessories?
Yes we have many different sewing machine feet, bobbins, walking feet etc. Come and visit us, email or call us for more information.

Can you service my sewing machine or overlocker?
Yes. We offer sewing-machine and overlocker servicing. You will find our current service information here. Or contact your nearest shop to discuss your machine.

​Can you help me find a specific sewing accessory?
If you cannot find what you need online, please contact us. We'll do our best to help you locate the right item for your project.

Do you sell knitting and crochet yarn, patterns and accessories?
Yes, we stock a selection of patterns, books and yarn related products. We have a variety of yarns in stock, chinlele, yak, merino, baby yarns and premium acrylic.

Absolutely. If you are travelling to either shop for a specific yarn, fabric, sewing accessory or machine, we recommend contacting us first. We can check availability and advise on the next steps.
